Mohawk Valley village elections races and results

Mohawk Valley villagers took to the polls March 18 to elect mayors, trustees and chief justices across Oneida, Herkimer, and Madison counties. 

Results below reflect most current information available as of 2 p.m., March 20. Confirmed winners appear in bold. Results will be updated as boards of elections and village clerks update their status.

Mohawk Valley Village Election Results

Oneida County 

March 2026 Village Election Results for villages whose elections are governed by the Oneida County Board of Elections are considered unofficial until confirmed as certified, where the website is currently reporting absentee and mail-in ballots only partially reported. Status from Oneida County Election Commissioners was pending at the time of publication.

Registered voters:  7,792 

Votes Cast: 467 

Voter Turnout: 6% 

Village of Camden 

Village Trustees 

Jeffrey Kelly 

Todd Scoville 

Two Village Trustees seats were poised to be filled with voters choosing between two candidates and the write-in option, which won almost 10% of the total vote. 

Jeffrey Kelly and Todd Scoville, both Republicans, won 43.14% and 47.06% of the vote, respectively, to win the two Trustee seats. 

Village of Clayville 

The Village of Clayville requires voters to “write-in” the name of the candidate for whom they cast their vote for mayor and one village trustee seat. Twenty-eight votes were cast for mayor, 61 for trustee, with results to be published following certification of the vote. 

Village of Clinton

Chelsea Burns Spellman 

Voters filled two village trustee seats with two candidates, Howard Schaffer and Chelsea Burns Spellman, both of the Community party, with 48.94% and 51.06% of the vote, respectively, of 94 total votes. Write-in votes were an option but no Clinton voters cast for write-in candidates.

The Village of Holland Patent governs its own elections and saw two candidates run for two seats on the Village Board of Trustees, Jennifer Mann and A. Scott Rosenburgh. Official results are pending confirmation by the Village Clerk.

Village of New York Mills

Julianne Frankland

Voters were invited to cast two votes for Village Trustee from two candidates – Edward Chamberlain (Diamond) and Julianne Frankland (Frankland) – or cast a write-in vote. 

Of 421 votes cast, Chamberlain 143 votes, or 33.97%, Frankland won earned 148 votes for 35.15% of the total vote, while 30.88% of the total votes were cast for write-in candidates, with Daniel “Chip” Cieplinski winning 69 votes for 16.39% of the vote total, Mark Kulpa carving 14.01% of total votes with 59 votes in his favor, and rounding out vote-getters with Ken Kulpa and Jennifer Hoyt winning 1 vote each for .24% of the vote, respectively. 

Village of Oneida Castle

Donald Ackerman ran unopposed for a vacant seat on the Village of Oneida Castle Board of Trustees. Election details are pending confirmation by the Village Clerk.

Village of Oriskany Falls 

Village Trustees

Scott Jeffers 

Two candidates — Douglas Smorol and Scott Jeffers, both incumbents – ran for seats on the Village of Oriskany Falls Board of Trustees. The Village of Oriskany Falls reported on social media  that both candidates had been re-elected to the Village Board of Trustees with 24 voters and 24 absentee ballots counted.  

Village of Remsen

The Village of Remsen had two candidates – Susan Bartholomew and Kimberly Graves – run for village trustee. Status of results is pending confirmation from the Village Clerk.

Village of Sylvan Beach

Mark Ferriter

The Village of Sylvan Beach had two village trustee candidates — Thaddeus Lawrence and Mark Ferriter (incumbent) to fill two trustee seats. Their elections were confirmed on the village’s social media.

Village of Vernon 

The final candidates and outcome of the election to fill two Village Trustee seats is pending confirmation from the Village Clerk. 

Village of Waterville

Kaleigh Connors 

Waterville voters could cast two votes, choosing from the write-in option or two candidates, Brian Bogari and Kaleigh Connors, both cross-endorsed by the Democratic and Republican parties. Connors edged out Bogari as top vote-getter by just 2 votes, 29 to 27 (51.79% to 48.21% of total vote respectively). There were no write-in votes cast in Waterville. 

Village of Whitesboro

Whitesboro Village voters cast ballots for both mayor and village trustee (where they could cast two votes). Ken Hopsicker ran unopposed for mayor, winning 96.10% of the total vote, with 74 ballots cast in his favor. 3.9% of the total vote – or 3 ballots – were write-ins. 

Two candidates ran for trustee, Peter Potasiewicz and Timothy J. Ryan, Jr., both under the Whitesboro United Banner. Potasiewicz was the top vote-getter with 70 votes and represented 52.24% of the vote total. Ryan earned 51 votes for 45.52% of the total, while write-in candidate Erica Zalatan carved out 2 votes for 2.24% of total votes cast. 

Herkimer County

All 2026 Village elections in Herkimer County were conducted and governed by the respective villages themselves, though via official communication regarding results to the Herkimer County Board of Elections, some outcomes were confirmed.

Village of Dolgeville

Marilyn Williams 

As confirmed on the Village of Dolgeville official social media, Mary Puznowski, ran as unopposed incumbent for Mayor of the Village of Dolgeville for a four-year term, winning 89 votes. Write-in candidates accounted for seven additional ballots (Brian Randall (2), Marilyn Williams (2), and Amber Kraszewski (3)), for a total of 96 votes. 

Andrew Drumm and Robert Gridley were the two candidates running for two vacant seats on the village’s Board of Trustees.  

Gridley received 86 votes, while Marilyn Williams, won 81 votes, with both being incumbents. Drumm had a vote-get of 32. Write-in candidate Joanne Williams received one vote, making for a total of 200 votes cast in the race. 

Village of Newport

Carl Ulinski ran unopposed for a seat on board of trustees for the Village of Newport. His election is confirmed but official details of the results remain pending confirmation by the Village of Newport. 

Village of Poland 

Mayor 

Jacquelyn Beck  

Jacquelyn Beck (not party affiliated), incumbent Mayor of the Village of Poland, was unopposed considered re-elected per write-in ballot. Her election is confirmed, with official details of the balloting pending confirmation by the Village of Poland.

Village Trustee(s) 

Voters will write in the name of the person for whom they cast their ballot to be the new Village Trustee. Results are pending confirmation by the Village of Poland.

Madison County

Village of Chittenango

All results for Village of Chittenango and Earlville are official, per the Madison County Board of Elections, as of noon, March 20.  The Village of DeRuyter filled one seat on the Village Board of Trustees by independent nomination. 

Village elections for Chittenango, (where residents voted for Chief Justice and Village Trustee) and Earlville were held on March 18, with polls open until 9 p.m.

Results from the Village of Chittenango as of 5 p.m. had John D. Button (Republican), an incumbent who ran unopposed for Chief Justice, winning 90 votes, while four votes were cast for write-in candidates and 16 ballots were blank, for a total of 110 ballots. 

Voters could cast two ballots for Village Trustee, choosing between two candidates – Dana H. Kent (Republican), who won 93 votes, and Edward J. Gratien (Republican) with 92 votes – and the write-in option, which pulled 19 votes. As with the Chief Justice line, 16 ballots did not cast a vote for Village Trustee. 220 total votes were cast. 

Parties or percentages were not noted.  

All elected leaders will serve two-year terms. 

Village of DeRuyter

Heidi Foster filled one seat on the Village of DeRuyter Board of Trustees by Independent Nomination, per Village Clerk and Treasurer Ardene Tiffany.

Village of Earlville

Village Trustee 1-year Vacancy

One candidate ran unopposed for Earlville Village Trustee,John Jablonski (Independent-John Jablonski), who earned 16 votes. Justice Mitchell won 13 votes as a write-in candidate, with four additional write-in candidates carving out votes: John Jack Worden (6), Vito Bolognone (2), Mark Golden (1), and Heather Dunchee (1). 9 blank ballots weigh in to account for 48 total votes cast. The winners will serve two-year terms expiring Apr. 3, 2028. 

Voters also cast write-in ballots to fill a one-year vacancy for a Village Trustee seat with a term that expires Apr. 5, 2027. Votes cast in order of highest vote-getters were as follows:
