Man killed, 2 women hurt in two-car crash in Town of Deerpark

DEERPARK – A man was killed and two women were hurt in a two-car crash on March 23 in the Town of Deerpark in Orange County.

State police said a preliminary investigation found that a 2004 Honda driven by Patricia A. Desomma, 76, of Warwick, was traveling northwest on state Route 42 and 97 in the Town of Deerpark, while a 2014 Ford was traveling southeast on the same roadway.

At one point, for unknown reasons, Desomma crossed into the southeast lane of travel and subsequently struck the Ford head-on.

Desomma and her front-seat passenger, John J. Desomma, 76, also of Warwick, were extricated from the vehicle. John Desomma received life-saving measures at the scene and was transported to Bon Secours Community Hospital in Port Jervis, where he later died from his injuries.

Patricia Desomma was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown, as was the driver of the Ford, a 36-year-old woman from Sparrowbush. Both of them had non-life-threatening injuries.

State police said its investigation into the crash is continuing. Anyone who might have witnessed the collision is asked to contact the state police in Middletown at 845-344-5300 and reference RMS number NY2600396602.
