Orange County restaurant inspection records show 17 food establishments received five or more violations in June, according to the most recent data released by New York state.
A pizzeria in Fort Montgomery had five critical violations and four non-critical violations in June, including not properly labeling or storing toxic chemicals, not using accurate thermometers and not properly storing or cooling potentially hazardous food.
A Korean restaurant and a seafood restaurant in Middletown received four critical and four non-critical violations in June, including using canned food in poor condition, using unapproved ice and not keeping food at the proper temperature.
Other restaurants were cited for not safely storing toxic chemicals, using canned foods in poor condition and using unapproved food.
In many cases, follow-up visits to the restaurants showed no violations.
