Lane reduction starts on Route 5 in Stafford for culvert work

The New York State Department of Transportation announced upcoming lane closures along State Route 5 in Stafford.Due to a culvert replacement project, State Route 5 will reduce to a single lane with alternating traffic over Black Creek, near A.D. Call & Sons Excavating & Trucking. The road closures started June 22 and are expected to be complete by Sept. 1.

Drivers should anticipate travel delays during this time and are advised to seek alternate routes if necessary. Construction activities are weather-dependent and subject to change based on conditions.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down and drive responsibly in work zones. Fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. Convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license
