Kayvon Thibodeaux earning 'rave reviews' from New York Giants brass

The New York Giants selected outside linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux with the fifth overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft.

Thibodeaux has been underwhelming through his first four seasons on the Giants’ defense. The linebacker possesses elite talent, however, and could still begin to shine in the fifth and final year of his rookie contract.

Thibodeaux has been at the center of trade rumors throughout this offseason. He was a top trade candidate during the NFL draft in April, yet he has handled the situation with professionalism and remained fully engaged with the team despite the external noise.

The Athletic’s Dan Duggan recently addressed how Thibodeaux has managed the uncertainty, noting that the veteran is keeping his spirits high and is fully bought into coach John Harbaugh’s system.

The Giants were never looking to give Thibodeaux away in a trade. So when the best offer they got for Thibodeaux was a fourth-round pick from the New Orleans Saints, the Giants held onto the 25-year-old.

Thibodeaux has earned rave reviews from all corners of the organization for how he’s handled a challenging situation.

Thibodeaux has developed a strong connection with Harbaugh and has bought into the coach’s team-first ethos.

Thibodeaux has recorded 23.5 sacks, six forced fumbles, and 152 total tackles over the first four seasons of his NFL career.

The linebacker will need to elevate his performance in 2026, especially given the Giants’ increased depth at the position. Should he struggle, Thibodeaux could quickly find himself fighting for consistent playing time.
