John Harbaugh 'very happy' with New York Giants' DT additions

New York Giants head coach John Harbaugh expressed strong satisfaction with the team’s recent defensive tackle acquisitions during his Saturday press conference after rookie minicamp.

When asked about the moves involving D.J. Reader, Shelby Harris, and Zacch Pickens since the draft, Harbaugh boasted.

“I’m very happy about it. I felt like it was part of our process. It’s not that we wouldn’t have drafted a defensive tackle or signed one sooner if they had become available or kept Dexter (Lawrence) if that was something we could do. Those were all things that were on the table,” he said.

“But as it went, I thought we did a good job of kind of responding to the situation as it unfolded, and now we feel really good about our group in there. It looks good to me. I’m excited about it. I think we have the guys we need.”

Harbaugh stressed the moves were a flexible response to how the board developed rather than a forced early selection.

The approach left the Giants with the interior defensive players they targeted. His comments signal confidence in the defensive line as the team prepares for Phase 2 of the offseason program, OTAs, and training camp.
