The New York Jets have started a lot of new chapters in the team’s history this offseason and plenty of them are earning early praise.
ESPN took a panel of anonymous NFL executives and scouts from across the league and asked them for their top roster moves and other decisions made throughout football during the 2025 offseason.
The Jets cracked the list for more than one reason.
To start the offseason, New York brought Aaron Glenn back to town by naming him their head coach.
Then Glenn was part of the front-office group that decided to sign Justin Fields as the Jets’ starting QB.
Both of those were grouped together by an NFL insider in ESPN’s breakdown, earning praise.
In addition, one of New York’s draft picks were specifically touted. It’s not first-round offensive lineman Armand Membou, rather, it’s the team’s Round 2 pick in tight end Mason Taylor.

Several head coaching hires were lauded in league circles — most notably Ben Johnson to the Bears and Mike Vrabel to the Patriots — but the selection of Glenn in New York resonates, too. And Fields is considered by some as an ideal match for Glenn’s efforts to instill toughness in Florham Park.
“A defensive head coach is going to run the ball with Breece Hall and a dangerous weapon to complement the offense in Fields,” an NFL coordinator said. “AG will help the defense be even better, too.”
