The New York Giants offense will be an interesting unit to watch during the 2025 season.
While the expectation is that Russell Wilson will be leading the quarterback room to begin the campaign, the two other additions, Jameis Winston and rookie Jaxson Dart, make it an intriguing room to keep an eye on.
Dart’s timeline as the starter has a wide range of outcomes in terms of when he could make his debut, but he was also included as the main point in both the best- and worst-case scenarios for the Giants offense in 2025, per Alex Ballentine of Bleacher Report.
In terms of the best-case scenario, head coach Brian Daboll would prove he can develop Dart into a long-time starter.
Now, it’s time to prove he can develop a QB. Starting Russell Wilson and getting the offense to a respectable position early in the season is a good outcome, but the best-case scenario should include Dart getting an opportunity to play at some point.
Daboll made his reputation for his role in helping develop Josh Allen. Now he can save his job and get the Giants going in the right direction by doing the same with Dart.
Daboll was hired during the 2022 offseason because of his reputation for helping develop Josh Allen into the superstar MVP he is today. Expecting that outcome for Dart would be unrealistic, but there are some traits they both share that Daboll could get out of the rookie.
However, the downside of Dart playing a lot in 2025 comes with the risk of exposing him to NFL defenses before he’s ready, which is the worst-case scenario laid out by Ballentine.
So, while it would be ideal for Dart to see action by the end of the season, it would be ideal for Wilson to play well enough that Daboll has time to get Dart acclimated.
If he’s forced into the lineup early, his confidence could take a hit while Malik Nabers grows frustrated and the Giants are again one of the worst offenses in the league.
If the Giants continue to struggle in the win column, Daboll and Schoen would likely use Dart’s development as a last resort to save their jobs.
Dart is expected to begin the season as the No. 3 quarterback on the depth chart but once the campaign begins, all bets are off in terms of when he could make his debut.
