The Buffalo Bills have cornerback news ahead of their AFC wild-card game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
When the Bills (12-5) visit the Jaguars (13-4) on Sunday, first-round rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston will not be in the lineup. He sustained an unfortunate ankle injury in Week 18. Head coach Sean McDermott noted earlier this week Hairston was “unlikely to play” in Jacksonville.
Nearly confirming that is the signing to cornerback Dane Jackson to the team’s 53-man roster from the practice squad.
In a corresponding move, defensive tackle Jordan Phillips (ankle) was placed on injured reserve.
In adding Jackson to the roster, it’s clear Hairston will not play in Jacksonville.
Jackson will provide depth behind the likes of Christian Benford and Tre’Davious White, Buffalo’s two starters.
Hairston’s health beyond the wild-card round is unclear.
