One person was injured in a house fire in Penfield Thursday.
The fire
Emergency responders were called to the scene – on Harris Road, just north of Atlantic Avenue – to battle a house fire just before 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 4. Firefighters from six volunteer departments battled the blaze at the scene.
The first arriving firefighters saw that the garage of the single-family home at 1640 Harris Road was ablaze, and that the heavy flames were spreading to the living area of the house, according to the Webster Fire Department.
It took firefighters around 40 minutes to control the fire, they said. Fire officials were on scene for more than three hours.
One person injured, 2 cats died
One person who was inside the burning home was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and released, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Fire officials said it was the homeowner,
Two cats died in the fire, according to family of the homeowner.
What’s next
The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to the fire department.
