WEST POINT – Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth has been announced as the graduation speaker at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point on May 23.
West Point said this will be Hegseth’s first official visit to the military academy.
The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at Michie Stadium.
Hegseth is the 29th Pentagon chief, and serves as the principal assistant to President Donald Trump in all matters relating to the Department of War.
Born and raised in Minneapolis, Minn., Hegseth was commissioned as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army National Guard after graduating from Princeton University in 2003. He also earned a degree from Harvard University in 2013.
Hegseth participated in a number of active duty deployments during his time in the service, including operations in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq and Afghanistan. He also served in multiple staff positions in the National Guard.
