As the sun sets over Sleepy Hollow this summer, history will mingle with music, storytelling, dance and a touch of magic at Philipsburg Manor.
Historic Hudson Valley is launching Enchanted Evenings, a new series of twilight events designed to bring the historic landmark to life after dark. Running on select dates from June through July, the series invites visitors to experience the site in fresh and unexpected ways.
Philipsburg Manor events series kicked off in early June
The season opened in early June with Sheep, Shepherds, and Spindles in Sleepy Hollow, where guests watched sheep-herding demonstrations, meet farm animals and try their hand at traditional fiber crafts. A week later, the Bread, Beer, and Bluegrass event celebrated the journey from grain to glass with gristmill tours, baking demonstrations, sourdough tastings and live music from the acclaimed bluegrass band Astrograss.
Music and movement will take center stage on June 26 during Get in Line: A Soul Dance Celebration, featuring soul line-dancing lessons and performances by Hudson Valley R&B band, BaseCamp.
Storytelling lovers can gather in Philipsburg Manor’s historic barn on July 11 for Story Stage: It Happened That Summer, an evening of humorous true stories curated by award-winning writer and comedian Ivy Eisenberg. The series concludes July 18 with Magic and Cocktails with Noah Levine.
Other events held during the summer season at Philipsburg Manor
Enchanted Evenings is part of a broader summer lineup that visitors can also experience. Additional events taking place this summer are outdoor theater experiences, tea parties and each weekend an array of activities are available.
Beyond special events, visitors can explore the rich history through guided tours of Philipsburg Manor, where interpreters share the stories of the 23 enslaved Africans who lived and labored on the property in the 18th century.
With live entertainment and historic experiences under the stars, the season promises to offer something for visitors of every age. Tickets for all events and tours are available through Historic Hudson Valley’s website: hudsonvalley.org.
