Kids in the Hornell and Wellsville areas don’t have to wait until Oct. 31 to wear their Halloween costumes and pick up loads of treats.
Several communities have Halloween activities on tap in the coming days, with trunk or treat events and costume parades offering family fun, fall-time excitement and some tasty loot.
Here’s the rundown of Halloween-themed events scheduled in the upcoming days.
Hornell American Legion Halloween Parade, Oct. 23
Be sure to get in on the spooky fun by participating in the Hornell American Legion’s annual Halloween Parade on Oct. 23. Get decked out in your costume and line up at the Community Bank parking lot. The parade, open to all ages, will set off at 7 p.m. for the Hornell High School cafeteria where there will be prizes and free apple cider and doughnuts.
Crosstown Trunk or Treat in Wellsville, Oct. 23
The Crosstown Alliance Church at 450 N. Highland Ave. in Wellsville hosts Trunk or Treat, at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23. The church invites families to an “epic Halloween experience,” with decorated trunks featuring favorite kids characters and lots of candy. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to wear a costume.
Station Church Trunk or Treat in Hornell, Oct. 25
Station Church, at 342 Seneca Road in Hornell, hosts its first ever Trunk or Treat event on Oct. 25 from 3-5 p.m. in the church parking lot.
The event will feature more than 20 decorated trunks handing out candy, a fun photo booth to show off costumes, a temporary tattoo station, a mini pumpkin decorating station and some interactive games.
Broadway Mall Trunk or Treat in Hornell, Oct. 25
Enjoy an evening of fun and free candy at Hornell Partners Growth’s annual Trunk or Treat, starting at 5 p.m. at the Broadway Mall. Put on your scariest or cutest costume and enjoy this popular event that draws hundreds of families with their children each year.
The event is sponsored by Hornell area organizations and businesses.
Allegany County Sheriff’s Office Trunk or Treat, Oct. 25
The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office holds its annual Trunk or Treat party from 1-3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25 at the Allegany County Office Building parking lot, 7 Court St.
Bring your little ghouls and goblins for an afternoon of trunk or treating with Allegany County law enforcement, EMS and fire personnel. Organizers will distribute complementary candy bags and glow sticks while supplies last.
New Hope Wesleyan Church Trunk for Treat, Oct. 26
Enjoy Trunk or Treat activities from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 26, at the New Hope Community Center, 282 Canisteo St., Hornell.
There will be Lain’s Cider Mill cider and doughnuts, a pumpkin decorating station and a coat give away. Everyone is invited.
Happening on Halloween in Dansville, Belfast Oct. 31
The Belfast Fire Department, 11 Merton Ave., holds a Trunk or Treat event from 5 to 7 p.m. on Oct. 31.
The Dansville Halloween parade starts at 6 p.m. from in front of Town Hall. Doughnuts and cider served from 6 to 7 p.m.
