Corning city police are currently investigating gunshots fired Thursday, July 24 at a Griffith Street home.
Kenzie Spaulding, Corning City Police Chief, said the department received several reports at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday of residents hearing gunshots from a home on Griffith Street.
Corning City patrolmen, New York State Police and the Steuben County Sheriff’s office responded to a home on Griffith Street, Spaulding said. No one was injured at the scene.
“We responded, cleared the house and the male subject we believe was responsible for the gunshots had left the home prior to our arrival,” Spaulding said. “No one was at the home when police responded so the case is still under investigation.”
Spaulding said the gunfire is believed to have come from a shotgun.
The name of the male suspect was not released by police. Police do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public. The incident remains under active investigation.
