Giants vs. Lions: 3 players to start/sit in fantasy football

Fantasy football enthusiasts are salivating over this week’s matchup between the Detroit Lions (6-4) and the New York Giants (6-4) at Ford Field.

The Lions’ fifth-ranked offense, which was held to nine points last week against the Philadelphia Eagles, will face a Giants’ defense that has struggled mightily this season. They are ranked 29th overall and last in the red zone.

There’ll be plenty of Lions in DFS lineups this week, and everyone who has shares in their offensive weapons will have them active in year-long leagues.

Here are some start/sit options for this Sunday’s game.

Start: Lions RBs Jahmyr Gibbs, David Montgomery

The Giants are allowing 150 yards per game on the ground this season, and things aren’t getting much better as they are using practice-squad players at linebacker these days. They rank 31st against running backs in fantasy this year, and the Lions’ backfield duo is as dangerous as they come.

Jahmyr Gibbs will likely be heavily played in DFS as he is the more dynamic, but David Montgomery could have a big game as well, as the change-up, short-yardage, and end zone option in this game.

Sit: Giants QB Jaxson Dart

The Lions are 21st in the NFL against quarterbacks this year, but they have not allowed a passer to eclipse 243 yards in the air as of Week 11. In fact, they’ve held opponents to under 200 yards passing in five of their ten games this year.

Jaxson Dart, should he be cleared from his concussion issues, will be reigned in a bit as a measure to keep him safe. If the rushing element of his game is curtailed in any way, his value dips.

Start: Lions WR Jameson Williams

The fantasy gurus will be tripping over themselves to get Amon-Ra St. Brown in their lineups, so his usage will not give you much of an advantage, considering his price tag. That’s why Jameson Williams is the play here.

The Giants’ secondary is a mess, and they will be concentrating on St. Brown. Williams is the hot hand, though. Over the last three games, he’s averaged 21.0 fantasy points per game on DraftKings, compared to St. Brown’s 13.9.
