Giants great Shaun O'Hara impressed with Francis Mauigoa's athleticism

The New York Giants selected Miami offensive tackle Francis Mauigoa with the 10th overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft.

Mauigoa was widely regarded as the top offensive lineman available on draft night. The talented tackle-turned-guard could emerge as a star on the Giants’ offense as soon as his rookie year, entering his first campaign in New York with significant expectations.

Mauigoa was nothing short of a superstar throughout his three seasons at Miami. He played a critical role in the Hurricanes’ near-national championship run last season and will now look to build on that success in his debut with the Giants.

Former Giants center Shaun O’Hara was recently asked for his thoughts on Mauigoa ahead of the rookie’s first training camp. O’Hara praised the lineman’s athleticism despite his size.

“I love how athletic he is for such a big guy,” O’Hara said on Inside the Film Room. “He’s such a wide-bodied, big ol’ presence. But he’s super athletic. You rarely see him on the ground.”

O’Hara played an essential role on New York’s offensive line from 2005 to 2010. As a three-time Pro Bowler, he would make an excellent mentor for Mauigoa, and his comments about the young star are highly promising.

Mauigoa’s athleticism was on full display throughout his collegiate career at Miami. He has proven capable of thriving in a multitude of scenarios and is expected to play a key role in protecting Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart throughout the 2026 season.

Mauigoa was widely regarded as a steal when the Giants selected him 10th overall in this year’s draft, and O’Hara appears to have full confidence in the promising lineman moving forward.
