A frost advisory has been issued for parts of western and central New York, with chilly overnight temperatures expected to put sensitive plants at risk.

The National Weather Service in Buffalo said the advisory is in effect from midnight to 9 a.m. Friday.
The advisory covers Niagara, Orleans, Monroe, Wayne, Erie, Genesee, Wyoming, Livingston, Ontario and Chautauqua counties, including cities such as Buffalo, Rochester, Niagara Falls, Batavia and Jamestown.
What to expect
Overnight temperatures are forecast to drop into the lower to mid-30s, creating conditions for widespread frost, especially in inland areas away from the lakeshores.
