The New York Jets released wide receiver Quentin Skinner in June. Darren Mougey made the move to create room to sign undrafted rookie receiver Jalen Walthall to the offseason 90-man roster. Skinner was released with an injury designation, but he’s evidently now healthy enough to join a division rival.
The Buffalo Bills claimed Skinner off of waivers on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, they waived fellow receiver Deven Thompkins. Skinner will now attempt to compete for a roster spot in Buffalo at training camp and throughout the preseason.
Skinner originally signed with the Jets as an undrafted free agent out of Kansas following last year’s 2025 NFL draft. The five-year college wideout recorded eight catches on 11 targets for 114 yards and one touchdown during the Jets’ three exhibition games. Skinner had to settle for the practice squad, but was promoted to the roster in December and ironically had a 10-yard catch against the Bills in the Week 18.
The Bills obviously liked what they saw.
The Jets won’t miss Skinner. They drafted Omar Cooper Jr. at No. 30 overall and added him to a receiver room with Garrett Wilson and Adonai Mitchell. Jets Wire wishes Skinner the best of luck in Buffalo.
