According to a storm survey released Friday, the tornado touched down near Rock Stream at about 10:55 a.m. Thursday.

Meteorologists determined the tornado produced peak winds of 90 mph as it moved through the area, causing damage along a path that stretched from Reading Road to Fir Tree Point on Seneca Lake.

Damage included uprooted trees, collapsed garage

The tornado intensified near Old Lake Road and state Route 14, where survey teams found convergent and chaotic tree damage consistent with tornadic winds.

Numerous trees were uprooted, and a residence sustained damage that included a collapsed garage, according to the Weather Service.

The tornado weakened before ending near Fir Tree Point along the western shore of Seneca Lake.

Part of statewide severe weather outbreak

The tornado was one of several severe weather incidents reported across New York on Thursday as strong thunderstorms brought damaging winds, power outages and tornado warnings to parts of the state.

The National Weather Service continues to assess storm damage from Thursday’s weather system.
