One person was hospitalized after her vehicle collided with a dump truck Sept. 12 in the Town of Big Flats.
The crash took place around 8:40 a.m. in the vicinity of state Route 352 and South Corning Road, according to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office.
Arriving deputies discovered a 2008 Chevy Malibu passenger vehicle operated by 18-year-old Madelyn Kreisler, of Southport, was traveling east on Route 352 and turned left in front of another vehicle to enter South Corning Road, the sheriff’s office said.
The other vehicle was a westbound Peterbilt dump truck owned by Edger Enterprises and fully loaded with gravel and debris, deputies said.
The dump truck collided with the passenger side of the Malibu and pushed it about 100 yards east of the intersection and off the south shoulder of the roadway.
Kreisler was removed from her vehicle by personnel from the Big Flats Fire Department and Erway Ambulance. She was transported to Guthrie Corning Hospital and later airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, where her condition was listed as stable Friday afternoon.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured, the sheriff’s office said.
The investigation into the crash is continuing. The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office was also assisted at the scene by the New York State Police commercial vehicle unit and drone unit, and the state Department of Transportation.
