Rochester police have identified the man killed in a fiery crash inside a Rochester General Hospital parking garage on Oct. 29 as 69-year-old Mark Morreall of Holley, New York.
According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates the crash was accidental, with no signs of criminal activity.
Capt. Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department said the crash occurred around 11:15 a.m. on the second floor of the parking garage at 1425 Portland Ave. A 2008 Ford Ranger driven by Morreall struck multiple parked, unoccupied vehicles before catching fire.
Rochester firefighters extinguished the blaze and found Morreall inside the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
In total, nine vehicles were damaged in the collision and fire.
Hospital officials said the fire was quickly contained and did not spread to the hospital. Rochester General remained fully operational, with patients and visitors redirected to alternate parking areas.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call 911.
