An up-and-coming country music star is set to perform in Binghamton for the second time.
Drake Milligan is heading to Touch of Texas in the Northgate Plaza on Upper Front Street as part of his Tumbleweed World Tour, and Milligan is inviting all music lovers to come out and enjoy the show.
Here’s what to know about the singer, and what to know about the Town of Chenango show.
What to know about Drake Milligan
Originally from Fort Worth, Texas, 27-year-old Milligan has been building his music career since he was a teenager.
While he grew up listening to country music, being a country singer wasn’t always the plan. After landing the role of Elvis Presley in the TV series “Sun Records” at 17, he realized this would be the perfect way to get to Nashville to pursue music.
Milligan made the move when he was 19. In 2017, he auditioned for “American Idol,” but ultimately dropped out of the competition as he did not feel like he was ready.
In 2022, Milligan auditioned for “America’s Got Talent” and finished in third place. He said the competition “broke the ice” for him, and his music career really began to take off.
Soon after the competition, Milligan released his debut record, “Dallas/Fort Worth,” that same year and he said he has “been on the road ever since.”
Milligan returns for Binghamton show
Milligan said he averages around 150 shows globally per year.
This is the second time Milligan will perform at Touch of Texas, the first being in 2024, and he said he is excited to be back in the area, and hopes the show will bring in returning and new listeners.
“It’ll just be interesting to see those that came back or those that maybe heard about the show and wanted to come check it out,” he said.
Despite their music preferences, Milligan said the show will be enjoyable for anybody who is a fan of music in general.
“Even if they’re just a fan of musicality, great bands, live bands, I would challenge them to come check out our show. I think they’d like it,” he said. “We got a great live Nashville-based band that is top level musicians. So I think anybody who just enjoys live music, whether you’re a country fan or not, will enjoy the show.”
