After a months-long break, Delta flights to Detroit will return to the Greater Binghamton Airport.
Delta, which remains the airport’s sole commercial airline, announced in December it would be eliminating service to and from BGM indefinitely starting in February. Thanks to pressure from local and state leaders, the airline announced the break would be a temporary one, less than two weeks after its initial announcement.
In December, Delta revealed flights would resume in the spring of 2026 — and after months of waiting, commercial flights from BGM return in May.
Delta flights to return to Binghamton area in May
As of April 23, flights to and from BGM are available beginning Thursday, May 7. The airline will continue to fly between BGM and Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport, its only destination from the Binghamton area.
Starting May 7, flights will be offered daily, with each day’s arrival landing in Binghamton at 1:46 p.m. and departures leaving at 2:27 p.m. The trip lasts roughly the same time when departing and returning, with flight times running around an hour and a half.
For longer trips, travelers can find hundreds of transfers at DTW, which functions as a major Delta hub within the United States. To book tickets departing from BGM, visit binghamtonairport.com/flights/flights.
The return of Binghamton trips seemingly bucks Delta trends throughout the country, with the airline choosing to cut certain summer flights in 2026. Though the airline did not point to a specific reason for its decision, several airlines have made adjustments amid increased fuel prices since the start of the war in Iran.
