David Bailey embraces little brother energy: 'Look forward to beating up on Giants'

David Bailey wasted no time embracing the New York Jets’ “little brother” energy toward the New York Giants.

Selected No. 2 overall by the Jets in the 2026 NFL draft after a standout season at Texas Tech, the pass rusher was asked which team he most looked forward to facing. Immediately, his mind turned to Big Blue — a common obsessive thought at the forefront for Jets coaches, players, fans, and analysts.

“I look forward to beating up on the Giants, probably,” Bailey replied.

The remark underscores the Jets’ longstanding “little brother” dynamic with their MetLife Stadium co-tenants, the Giants. Once Giants Stadium, the shared venue has long represented the Jets’ secondary status in New York football.

The franchise has a rich history of trash talk born from this perceived inferiority, from hiding Giants Super Bowl murals to Rex Ryan’s memorable face-offs with Tom Coughlin and Brandon Jacobs.

Bailey’s quip fits seamlessly into that defiant tradition.

The teams meet annually in the preseason, but regular-season games are rare, with the next not until 2027 and subsequent matchups unlikely in the near future due to scheduling.

Still, the rookie has already ignited the rivalry’s next chapter — a history that infrequently pans out for Gang Green’s trash-talkers.
