Could New York Giants' Bobby Jamison-Travis compete for a starting role?

The New York Giants selected Auburn defensive tackle Bobby Jamison-Travis in the sixth round of the 2026 NFL draft at No. 186 overall, adding a stout run defender to a defensive line reshaped by the trade of star nose tackle Dexter Lawrence.

At 6-foot-3 and 328 pounds, Jamison-Travis brings a space-eating presence and a strong commitment to stopping the run.

In his final college season, Jamison-Travis posted a 12.1 percent run-stop rate — fourth-best nationally and second among draft-eligible defensive tackles — while starting all 12 games and leading Auburn’s interior linemen in tackles. Scouts highlight his length, powerful hands, gap-clogging ability, and fundamental soundness against the run.

NFL Media’s Chad Reuter believes that, despite his late-round status, Jamison-Travis could immediately step in and compete for a starting role with the Giants.

I’m expecting the Giants to sign a veteran before training camp or after final cuts to bolster the nose tackle spot left open by the Dexter Lawrence trade. However, Jamison-Travis has a quick first step to go with strong hands that he uses to shed blockers in the run game. Quality play in training camp and the early part of the season could give him a chance to lock up a starting spot by midseason.

With the Giants still seeking veteran reinforcements up front, Jamison-Travis has a realistic opportunity to earn significant snaps as a rookie if he impresses in camp. His profile suggests he could develop into a reliable rotational piece and potentially more in New York’s rebuilt front.
