Costco Wholesale is changing up its popular hot dog combo.
Despite inflation disrupting the prices of nearly everything over the last few years, the Costco hot dog and soda price hasn’t budged in 40 years. However – the price has not changed. It still costs $1.50 for a quarter‑pound all‑beef hot dog with a refillable fountain soda.
But a new beverage option is on tap: bottled water.
Costco $1.50 hot dog combo gets new option
Costco’s hot dog combo includes a quarter-pound all-beef hot dog and a 20-ounce fountain soda you can refill. The Washington state-based retailer quietly rolled out the hot dog and bottled water combo, which gives patrons a chance to swap the refillable fountain drink for a 16.9-ounce bottle of Kirkland Signature brand water, while keeping the cost of the combo at $1.50.
The hot dog has not changed. What’s new is the flexibility for shoppers who don’t want soda now have an official alternative. The move may seem minor, but for a deal that has remained virtually untouched for decades, even a small adjustment feels like rather big news.
Some shoppers have welcome the bottled‑water option, noting that it makes the combo more convenient and better suits their preferences. Others argue the fountain soda offers more value, due to its free refills and a larger drink size.
