The former Storming Crab building has been demolished, making way for a Chick-fil-A restaurant on the Vestal Parkway.
As of July 22, the former Storming Crab building, located within the Town Square Mall in Vestal, was completely demolished and crews were actively working on removing the remnants. Eventually, the site will house the second of two Chick-fil-A restaurants opening in Broome County.
In March, the company confirmed the opening of the new restaurant, and Brixmor Property Group spokesperson Maria Pace further stated the group anticipates “an opening before the end of the year.” However, official opening announcements were deferred to Chick-fil-A.
The Vestal location will be the second to open in the Binghamton area, with the first being located at the Oakdale Commons in Johnson City. Construction on this location is progressing. Chick-fil-A Inc. confirmed in June it will open “in fall 2026, pending construction delays.”
The Johnson City Chick-fil-A will be situated at the former KeyBank site, which was demolished in late 2025 to make way for the restaurant. KeyBank has since opened a branch in Vestal following the Johnson City closure.
While an official timeline for the Vestal location has yet to be confirmed, Chick-fil-A said in a March announcement that both Broome County restaurants are expected to open between 2026 and 2027.
