Binghamton-area residents might soon see two new Chick-fil-A restaurants open in the area.
On June 3, Spark JC LLC partner Mark Newman confirmed the Oakdale Commons in Johnson City is working on a deal with the fast food chain. A second location is also in the planning stages in Vestal.
In a June 23 statement, a Chick-fil-A Inc. spokesperson confirmed that, while the company is still in the early stages, it is “actively pursuing a new location in Vestal.”
“We look forward to working through the approval process with the community and are excited by the prospect of joining this neighborhood,” the company said.
A site plan review for a Chick-fil-A location to open at the Town Square Mall was on the Town of Vestal Planning Board agenda for June 17.
“A site plan review is the first step any business takes when planning to open in the Town of Vestal,” town board member Glenn Miller said in a statement. “So yes, Chick-fil-A is starting the process to open a store in Vestal.”
Miller said he has no additional information at this time, but acknowledged that “there has been a great deal of support for this store.”
Brixmor Property Group, which owns the Town Square Mall, said they are “actively working to add new best-in-class retailers and services that meet the needs of the Vestal community.”
Spokesperson Kristen Moore further said Brixmor Property Group will share the tenant names once the “leases are finalized.”
When will Chick-fil-A open in Johnson City, Vestal?
Chick-fil-A did not announce a timeline for the new Vestal location.
In Johnson City, a deal would put a Chick-fil-A where the current KeyBank sits at Oakdale Commons. If the deal goes through, the restaurant construction would not begin until 2026, as KeyBank’s lease extends through the end of 2025.
