Carl Banks, Ottis Anderson headline New York Giants' 2026 Hall of Fame nominees

Two former New York Giants Ring of Honor members, linebacker Carl Banks and running back Ottis “O.J.” Anderson, are among the 162 players who have been nominated for the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Class of 2026 in the Seniors category.

Players must have last played at least 25 full seasons ago — no more recently than the 2000 season — to be eligible for nomination in this category. Qualifications for candidacy include five years of service and at least one recognized postseason honor.

Banks was the third overall selection by the Giants in the 1984 NFL draft and played nine seasons in blue, winning two Super Bowls, and was named an All-Pro after the 1987 season. Banks was also named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1980s.

Anderson, who also won two Super Bowls with the Giants, joined the club via a trade in 1986 after seven seasons with the St. Louis Cardinals. Anderson was a two-time Pro Bowler who was the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 1979 and the NFL Comeback Player of the Year in 1989.

Other nominees on the list who played for the Giants are quarterbacks Charlie Conerly and Earl Morrall, running back Herschel Walker, wide receivers Homer Jones and Del Shofner, offensive linemen Bart Oates and Ray Wietecha, defensive end Leonard Marshall, and defensive back Jimmy Patton.
