Girls Lacrosse Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital

The week featured some close games and late rallies, thrilling overtime wins, and a couple anticipated matchups that more than lived up to their hype. In a couple of those contests, all those factors were rolled into one. That exciting slate produced for us 11 candidates for Girls Lacrosse Player of the Week, presented by White Plains Hospital.

Our previous poll winners this season were Sofia Conners (Somers), Fin Degl (John Jay-Cross River), Emily Butler (Tappan Zee), Amelia Walsh (Brewster), Olivia Saccomanno (Brewster) and Lauren Rogers (White Plains).

Read below about what the nominees accomplished last week, then cast your votes. The poll will be open until 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 13 and the winner will be featured on lohud sports social media accounts. 

Ella Collins, Pleasantville

She had three goals and five assists, leading the Panthers in a 13-7 win over Horace Greeley, a team that has made it difficult for opponents to score.

Casey Cummings, Nyack

She scored two of her four goals in the fourth quarter, helping lead the RedHawks from behind and was on the circle for the draw that led to the dramatic overtime goal in a 13-12 win over Rye.

Lila Dumas, Briarcliff

The goalkeeper made 10 saves in the Bears’ 11-10 upset win over Bronxville last Wednesday.

Charlotte Frazier, Hackley

She had an assist and scored twice, including the winner in double overtime as the Hornets edged Dalton, 8-7, last Wednesday.

Arden Keough, Pelham

She totaled 10 goals, three assists and eight draw controls in the Pelicans’ dominant wins over Harrison and Somers.

Elle Mason, Rye Country Day School

She scored five goals, including the winner in overtime as the Wildcats topped Connecticut’s Greenwich Academy, 9-8, last Tuesday in what was a matchup of undefeated league rivals. She also had five goals and an assist in their win over Millbrook School.

Mia McConnell, Kennedy Catholic

The senior had nine goals and two assists in the Gaels’ 19-13 win over Cardinal Spellman in the league championship game. She also had three goals and an assist in their 8-7 double overtime loss to Xaverian in the city championship game last Saturday.

Dylan New, Fox Lane

The junior scored six second-half goals and notched her 200th career point while leading the Foxes in a comeback win over Brewster. New also scored twice and forced two turnovers in their 11-10 win over Mamaroneck, including causing a late turnover that essentially sealed the victory.

Katelyn Quinlan, Croton-Harmon

The midfielder totaled 11 goals, six assists and 33 draw controls in wins over Sleepy Hollow, Haldane and Harris last week.

Maeve Walsh, Westlake

The senior had an assist and four goals, including the 222nd of her career, which set a program record, while leading the Wildcats to a win over Hastings last Wednesday.

Ella Wendol, Putnam Valley

She totaled eight goals, 12 assists and 12 draw controls in the Tigers’ wins over Byram Hills and Haldane last week. The junior also eclipsed 300 career points in the 24-16 win over Haldane last Friday.
