Cam Skattebo vows return to violent running style for New York Giants

New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo has made it clear that his aggressive, physical running style will remain unchanged as he recovers from a season-ending ankle injury suffered in 2025.

Speaking on NFL Network’s The Insiders, Skattebo emphasized his determination to return to form.

“It ain’t gonna change who I am,” he said on Wednesday. “I had an injury, you know, it is what it is. I’ve still got plenty of football left, plenty of life left, I’m not going to let this little ankle thing bother me. I’m going to get back [to] running people over like you see on the videos. It’s going to be normal Cam Skattebo from here on out.”

As a fourth-round rookie in 2025, Skattebo impressed with his violent, bowling-ball approach, accumulating 617 total yards and seven touchdowns in just seven games before a dislocated ankle sidelined him. He has since progressed well, participating in limited 11-on-11 drills during minicamp and even performing a backflip at a charity softball game.

Under new head coach John Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, Skattebo expressed feeling supported as he ramps up toward full participation.

“Coach Harbaugh and Nagy, I’ve felt nothing but support and love from them,” Skattebo said. “They’re always on me about getting back, and they’re starting to see where I’m at in my process and they’re starting to trust it. They’ve been really good to me. I trust both of those two, as [well] as everybody else on the staff.

“It’s been nothing but joy and happiness for me, just starting to fall back in love with the game after an injury for sure.”

With training camp approaching, his commitment signals a strong return for the Giants’ backfield.
