The Binghamton Bearcats women’s basketball team secured a top 4 seed in the NCAA American East Conference (AEC) and will host a quarterfinal playoff game at the university’s Events Center on Thursday, March 5, at 6 p.m.
This is the first year the Bearcats will be stepping into an AEC quarterfinal game with home-court advantage since the 2019-20 season, when the team finished 22-9 overall.

Five years later, the Bearcats could very well find themselves in an almost identical situation, as the team currently sits at an 18-9 overall record and has two more conference matchups left in the season.
Binghamton’s biggest challenge remains overcoming the semifinal roadblock ― a roadblock usually spearheaded by conference rivals, Maine and Vermont. Last year’s playoff saw Binghamton winning the quarterfinals despite being the lower 5th seed, only to then take a nail-biting 64-58 loss to the No. 1 seed Maine.
The Bearcats will have more clarity on what this year’s playoff picture will look like once the last few conference games are played this week.
Here are the AEC games being played this week that will determine the final seedings.
