Binghamton University students begin returning to campus Aug. 15 for the fall semester, and drivers will likely encounter higher traffic on the Vestal Parkway and surrounding roads.
Binghamton University anticipates around 18,600 students to begin classes on Aug. 19, having received a record 74,725 applications for fall 2025, according to a press release issued by the university.
Joining campus this year will be “over 3,160 first-year students, 850 transfer students and 1,300 new graduate students,” the release states, and those living on campus will move in between Aug. 15 and Aug. 17.
“Another record-breaking year of applications makes it clear that the University is growing its reputation as a desirable destination for incoming students,” said Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger. “Binghamton’s commitment to academic excellence, its ability to prepare students for graduate school and careers, and the quality of its physical facilities have made the University one of the premier public institutions in the nation.”

What time Binghamton University students move in this weekend
New first-year and transfer students move in Aug. 15-16 and returning students move in Aug. 17.
Move-in occurs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. over the three-day period. All students have assigned time slots for arriving on campus on their respective move-in day, and the university expects the entire move-in process to take 1-2 hours for each student.
Classes begin Aug. 19.
