The Binghamton University baseball team is back in the NCAA Division I Tournament, squaring off with host West Virginia Friday night (5 p.m.).
The Bearcats (31-20) are coming off their second straight America East Tournament title, their seventh overall. They also won the conference’s regular-season crown, also their seventh. This also marks their seventh trip to the NCAA Regionals, although their sole win came in their first trip in 2009 (an 11-6 victory over George Mason). They are 1-12 all-time in the NCAA tourney, with last year’s trip to Athens, Georgia, including defeats vs. host UGA as well as Oklahoma State.

West Virginia, meanwhile, enters at 39-14 and is No. 11 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. The Mountaineers have won 11 of their last 13 games, but enter the tourney licking their wounds after a 9-0 loss to Kansas in the Big 12 title game. They are making their 18th NCAA Tournament appearance and their fourth straight, having won a regional each of the last two seasons. They have never made the College World Series.
