Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Bene was provided the latest update many were waiting for regarding tight end Dalton Kincaid.
From the NFL owner’s meetings this week, the GM said the team has officially decided to pick up the fifth-year option on Kincaid’s rookie contract.
Buffalo’s first-round selection during the 2023 draft, Kincaid and all Round 1 picks have a fifth-year option attached to their rookie contract. But teams must decide whether or not to exercise the option the offseason before the start of the player’s fourth season.
That means Kincaid is already under contract for next year, but the option would then put him under contract in 2027 as well… which Kincaid now is.
Beane had previously indicated during the 2026 NFL combine that he had interest in exercising Kincaid’s option, however, he did not have the ability to at the time because of salary cap problems. Beane noted “at the right time” the team will look into Kincaid’s option.
That time has come.

Kincaid is off a season with a career worst number of catches in 2025 with only 39. However, he did play just 12 games and still managed 571 yards and five touchdown catches. Kincaid had four total TDs in the first two years combined.
