Army football brings in 69 newcomers, 45 from the prep school

A total of 69 newcomers have been added to the Army football roster for the 2025 season.

Forty-five of the freshmen played for the U.S. Military Academy Prep School football team and 24 are direct admits from high school.

“We’re excited to welcome the next generation of leaders into the Army football Brotherhood,’’ said head coach Jeff Monken, who is entering his 12th season at West Point. “The Class of 2029 is an impressive group — high-achieving student-athletes and emerging leaders who have chosen to serve something bigger than themselves. They’ll make an immediate impact on our program this fall and in the years ahead.”

The newcomers hail from 26 different states — there is one from New York state, and 14 hail from Texas.

” I’m proud of our coaching staff for bringing in such a high-character group from all corners of the country,’’ Monken said.

The newcomers arrived for the annual Reception Day on Monday and were immediately thrust into summer cadet training.

The football preseason should get underway in the final week of July, a month ahead of the August 29 season opener with visiting Tarleton State.

The current Army roster has 48 sophomores (out of 73 introduced in July 2024), 38 juniors (out of 84 introduced as freshmen in July 2023) and 23 seniors (out of 68 introduced as plebes in July 2022), for a total of 179 players.
