The 30th annual American Pride Ride, geared to raise money for toys for local kids and support veterans, will start Saturday, June 20, at the Corning Building Company.
The ride will leave at 10 a.m. Saturday from the Corning Building Company, located at 346 Park Ave. in South Corning, and end at the Arnot Mall at 4:30 p.m. after an exciting ride down the runways at the Elmira Corning Regional Airport.
Registration is from 8-9:30 a.m. June 20; riders must have a valid motorcycle license and safety gear.
Local charity beneficiaries include Children’s Miracle Network, Salvation Army, American Red Cross, Vietnam Veterans Association Chapter 803, and Center for Development & Civic Engagement at the Bath VA Hospital.
“(Riders) love seeing the public cheering them on as they pass by, so if you don’t ride but want to show your support, find a spot along their route and cheer them on as they go by,” organizers said.
Officials said this year’s participants also get a special opportunity to ride around Watkins Glen International Raceway Sunday, July 5, as part of the Stars, Stripes, and Speed event.
Following the return to the Arnot Mall at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, there will be a parking lot party which includes carnival rides and games and 94 Rock and WOKN broadcasting live.
To wrap up the night and officially kick off summer, a special America 250 fireworks display set to a patriotic-themed music soundtrack will be held over the Elmira Corning Regional Airport.
People can see the details of the ride and how to get involved, including pre-registration, the route map and the charities that benefit, by visiting the Facebook page at American Pride Motorcycle Ride and Rally.
