Abdul Carter shined in New York Giants' first OTA practice

The New York Giants opened their 2026 organized team activities (OTAs) on Tuesday at the Quest Diagnostics Training Center under head coach John Harbaugh, conducting a full two-hour session in bright sunshine and temperatures nearing 100 degrees.

The practice emphasized situational football, including clock management scenarios, with both offense and defense mixing veterans and rookies in 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 drills.

The star of the show was linebacker Abdul Carter, who consistently disrupted the offense, reports John Schmeelk of Giants.com.

Abdul Carter was a star of practice as he used his elite speed, quickness, and athleticism to get into the backfield to disrupt the Giants offense on multiple occassions. His bend is impossible to miss.

The second-year outside linebacker, selected third overall in the 2025 NFL draft out of Penn State, continued to showcase the disruptive traits that made him a standout despite an up-and-down rookie campaign.

Carter earned PFWA All-Rookie Team honors after finishing with 4.0 sacks, 43 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and an NFL-leading 48 quick pressures. He overcame early disciplinary issues and inconsistent play to close the season strongly, flashing the potential to anchor the Giants’ edge alongside Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux.

With improved maturity on and off the field, Carter appears poised for a breakout year in Harbaugh’s scheme. His early OTA dominance signals a promising step forward as the Giants build chemistry ahead of the season.
