Every NFL offseason produces a handful of players who generate buzz. Sometimes that momentum disappears once training camp begins.
Other times, spring success serves as a preview of bigger things to come. While the New York Jets still have plenty of work ahead before Week 1 arrives, several players consistently found ways to stand out during OTAs and mandatory minicamp.
Some strengthened their grip on roster spots. Others may have created entirely new opportunities for themselves. All left us with some summertime buzz while we await training camp.
Here are Jets Wire’s five winners from 2026 spring practices:
Tre Brown continued making plays
The Jets entered the offseason with questions about depth in the secondary. Tre Brown did everything possible to make himself part of the solution.
Throughout spring practices, Brown consistently found ways to impact the football. His highlight moment came when he reportedly secured a spectacular one-handed interception that quickly became one of the most discussed plays of the offseason program.
The cornerback room remains crowded. Brown’s playmaking ability has ensured his name remains firmly in the conversation.
Isaiah Williams looks ready for a larger role
No player may have generated more quiet momentum than Isaiah Williams. While attention naturally gravitated toward bigger names, Williams consistently stacked productive practices together. He routinely created separation and gave quarterbacks a reliable target throughout offseason work.
The Jets have difficult decisions ahead at wide receiver. Williams appears determined to make those decisions as difficult as possible. He’ll earn more of an opportunity during training camp.
Adonai Mitchell seized an opportunity
The Jets hoped Mitchell would become a meaningful contributor. Through spring workouts, he looked like much more than that. Observers consistently praised his chemistry with Geno Smith.
His ability to stretch defenses vertically and make difficult catches was evident throughout minicamp, including a highlight-reel touchdown reception that showcased his body control near the boundary. Entering training camp, Mitchell appears firmly positioned as one of New York’s most important offensive weapons.
Jelani Woods made his presence felt
Big targets tend to attract attention, and Woods certainly qualifies. Claimed off waivers late last season, the athletic tight end used the offseason to establish himself as a dependable option in the passing game.
His size created problems for defenders, particularly in red-zone situations and underneath coverage. The Jets have several talented tight ends, but Woods ensured he won’t be overlooked.
Max Melton forced his way into the discussion
Competition often brings out the best in players. That appears to be the case with Max Melton.
Working in a revamped secondary, Melton consistently earned praise for his instincts and anticipation. His performance throughout the spring has fueled legitimate discussions about where he fits in the defensive back rotation. At minimum, he enters training camp with momentum on his side.
