Seeds and brackets were revealed for the second annual New York State girls freestyle championships hosted by the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Feb. 26 at MVP Arena in Albany.
Port Chester sophomore Laila Builes, who won the 2025 state title at 100 pounds last year, picked up the top seed this year at 114 pounds. Eastchester junior Tatiana Alexander, who placed fifth in the state last year at 94 pounds, is the top seed at the same weight class in 2026.
Putnam Valley junior Delina Gritz, who last year placed fourth at 185, picked up the third seed at the weight class. Last year’s state champion at 185, Nyack’s Emily Rodriguez, is out for the season with a knee injury. Rodriguez won the Eastern States title earlier this season.
Seeds were only listed from 1 through 9 on the brackets. The remaining numbers listed are where they line up in the brackets.
