One person died in a two-alarm house fire in Oswego County early Thursday morning.
The fire
Firefighters from the Ringgold and Richland fire departments were called to 870 County Road 41 in Richland just before 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 21 to battle a house fire, according to New York State Police. Arriving firefighters found the house fully engulfed in flames, they said.
Firefighters from roughly 10 fire department worked to extinguish the fire, which did not spread to any nearby structures, troopers said. Oswego County sheriff’s deputies also assisted at the scene.
One person died
One person – a man – was found dead inside the home, troopers and fire officials said.
Cause of fire
At this time, there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire, Trooper Jennifer Jiron said in a news release.
What’s next
Fire officials and State Police are investigating to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Richland is located roughly 40 miles north of Syracuse in northeastern Oswego County, just east of Lake Ontario.
