A woman was found unresponsive inside the Des Moines International Airport terminal and was pronounced dead before she could be transported, according to police.
The woman was found the morning of Wednesday, June 24, in an area accessible to both passengers and employees, Des Moines police spokesperson Sgt. Paul Parizek told the Register. CPR was initiated, but was unsuccessful.
There were “no obvious indications of any criminal action contributing to death,” Parizek said. An autopsy will be performed.
Des Moines Airport spokesperson Sarah Hoodjer said emergency responders and law enforcement were notified immediately after the individual was found on airport property.
Airport operations continued as normal, with “no impact to the traveling public,” Hoodjer said.
Additional information about the woman and the circumstances of her death was not immediately available.
