Major League Baseball’s first two trips to Dyersville produced picture-perfect Iowa evenings. But what if Mother Nature doesn’t come through when the Philadelphia Phillies and Minnesota Twins meet at the Field of Dreams movie site on Thursday, Aug. 13?
MLB has a plan.
Should inclement weather impact the Twins-Phillies game, the contest would get moved back a day to Friday, Aug. 14. That date was left open on the Twins’ and Phillies’ schedules.
Thursday’s forecast (as of Monday evening) showed a 70% percent of rain in Dyersville.
“As with any event that is weather-dependent, we have a full plan in place should rain postpone MLB’s Thursday game,” according to an MLB spokesperson.
The MLB statement said both teams would stay in the area overnight. The previous day’s tickets would be valid for admission.
“As we continue to monitor the weather in consultation with national and local experts, we will do everything possible to play the game as scheduled on Thursday,” the statement said.
The game is the third MLB contest to come to Dyersville and first since 2022.
