With a new wave of intrigue permeating the Iowa football program, the Hawkeyes charge toward the 2025 season with confidence.
After a soft open on Aug. 30 against FCS school UAlbany, Iowa dives into the schedule with a Cy-Hawk road trip that could give the Hawkeyes a chance at an early ranked win. Following a Sept. 13 breather against UMass, Iowa is full throttle into the Big Ten slate.
Here are several expert predictions on how the 2025 campaign could go.
Expert predictions for Iowa football in 2025
Chad Leistikow, Iowa columnist: Yes, this is incredibly bullish considering Iowa is generally picked to finish between seventh and 10th in the 18-team Big Ten. Yes, a lot has to go right to get to 10 wins. But the Iowa formula to a special season is pretty simple, despite the schedule: Play the usual stingy defense, get the usual elite special teams and now unleash maybe the program’s best quarterback play since C.J. Beathard in 2015. Iowa’s range of outcomes is very wide this season. It’ll be fun to see how it all unfolds. Record: 10-2, 7-2
