The Hawkeyes (27-6) got all they could handle and then some in the opening round against No. 15 seed FDU. Iowa escaped with a 58-48 victory that brought the Hawkeyes’ record to 4-1 this season when scoring less than 60 points.

Meanwhile, Virginia (21-11) has been camped out in Iowa City for nearly a week now. The Cavaliers beat No. 10 seed Arizona State in a First Four game on March 19, then followed up with a first-round win over No. 7 seed Georgia two days later. Virginia is trying to reach its first Sweet 16 since 2000.
