West Des Moines police are searching for an armed suspect who fired his weapon at an officer late Monday night.
Police responded to a call of a man armed with a gun at 1124 Vine St. in West Des Moines just before midnight on Monday, Feb. 2, but upon arrival, the suspect fired at an officer, according to a news release from West Des Moines police spokesperson Sgt. Dan Wade. The officer returned fire but was not injured.
The suspect, later identified as Andrew Clark, 20, fled the scene on foot and has not been found by police. Police from Des Moines, Clive and Windsor Heights and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in an area search.
A bullet casing was found near the scene. Clark is a White male who was dressed in black, Wade said in the release.

Search warrants were conducted at a residence in the 600 block of 12th Street in West Des Moines and a residence in the 1400 block of Northwest 81st Street in Clive, but Clark was not at either location.
Clark has not been located by police as of 9 a.m. Wednesday.
