Teen dies after crash with dump truck in Bondurant

A 19-year-old was fatally injured in a crash with a dump truck in Bondurant on Sunday, May 3.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a dump truck around 3 p.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The driver and the passenger of the car were both seriously injured. The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

The driver of the car, Samantha Moore, 19, of Ankeny, was removed from the vehicle and flown in a helicopter to a nearby hospital. She later died from her injuries, according to a Tuesday update from the sheriff’s office.

The passenger was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital. Their status is not known.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate the cause of the crash. The driver of the dump truck, Eric Quick, 62, of Bondurant, stayed on the scene of the crash and is cooperating with investigators.
