President Donald Trump endorses Republican US Rep. Ashley Hinson's campaign for US Senate

President Donald Trump has endorsed U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson’s bid for U.S. Senate, handing her a huge boost just days after she announced her campaign.

“I know Ashley well and she is a WINNER!” Trump wrote on Truth Social on Friday, Sept. 5. “A Loving Wife and Proud Mother of two sons, Ashley is a wonderful person, has ALWAYS delivered for Iowa, and will continue doing so in the United States Senate. She is working hard to Create Jobs, Cut Taxes, Promote Products and Services MADE IN AMERICA by our incredible Iowa Workers, Support our Great Farmers and American Agriculture, Champion Innovation, Continue to Help Secure our new very Secure Southern Border, Stop Migrant Crime, Murderers, and other Criminals from illegally entering our Country, Strengthen our Military/Veterans, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment.”

“Ashley Hinson will be an outstanding Senator, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement,” Trump concluded. “SHE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!”

Hinson shared the post on social media.

“Honored to have President Donald J. Trump’s complete and total endorsement,” she wrote.

Hinson, a Republican who lives in Marion, represents northeast Iowa’s 2nd District in Congress. She entered the Senate race on Sept. 2, hours after incumbent Republican U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst said she would not seek reelection in 2026.

Hinson has said she will be Trump’s “top ally in the United States Senate,” and the president’s backing caps off a flurry of endorsements in the first week of her campaign including both Iowa and national Republican elected officials.

On Friday morning, Senate Majority Leader John Thune and National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Tim Scott endorsed Hinson’s bid.

And in Iowa, U.S. Rep. Zach Nunn, House Majority Leader Bobby Kaufmann and several state lawmakers announced their support for Hinson’s campaign.

Two other Republicans have announced they intend to seek the GOP nomination for Senate: former state Sen. Jim Carlin and Joshua Smith.
