Popular brunch restaurant plans to open a fourth location in the Des Moines metro

The Des Moines metro can’t get enough of The Breakfast Club. The brunch restaurant with three locations in the area announced a fourth coming to Waukee in 2026.

The restaurant plans to debut at Waukee’s Kettlestone Central, a new neighborhood retail center under construction at 2285 Grand Prairie Parkway.

What does The Breakfast Club serve?

The Breakfast Club specializes in novelty breakfast and lunch dishes such as breakfast corn dogs, s’more doughnut holes, and breakfast poutine.

The wildly popular brunch restaurant opened in February 2021 in the East Village with long lines of everyone from families ready to scarf down crepe flights and crab Rangoon eggs Benedicts to state legislators taking a morning meeting over a chai latte or bananas Foster French toast.

Dishes are served on bright Fiesta dinnerware, and a 1970s color palette decorates the walls.

A second location opened at West Glen in West Des Moines in 2022, followed by a third in Ankeny at the District at Prairie Trail.

The party-like atmosphere is fueled by clever cocktails such as a Mega Mosa and a loaded bloody Mary with bacon, shrimp, a cheese cube, olives, and pickles. Consider it breakfast in a glass.

What is Kettlestone Central?

Kettlestone Central plans to include residences, dining, retail, wellness, and public amenities in a master-planned environment.

The Kettlestone Central Sports Complex, a $40 million basketball complex with 12 courts developed by Dickson Jensen, is scheduled to open in late spring, anchoring Kettlestone Central commercial and residential development.

The sports complex includes 50-foot ceilings, sunken courts, and stadium-style seating. Developers estimate 500,000 people a year will visit the complex, generating an annual economic impact of more than $125 million.

When will The Breakfast Club open in Waukee?

Construction is currently underway, with The Breakfast Club expected to open in early 2026.
