The Des Moines Police Department is investigating a Sunday morning shooting that left one person in critical condition, according to a DMPD news release.
Patrol officers and Des Moines Fire Department rescue personnel responded to a report of a shooting at an apartment complex in the 400 block of East Philip Street in the south side of Des Moines shortly before 5 a.m. June 29. Officials found an adult male with a gunshot wound.
The victim received first aid until medics arrived on the scene and was transported to UnityPoint – Methodist Medical Center in critical condition. There is no indication of ongoing danger to the public, police said.
Crimes Against Persons Section and Crime Scene Investigation Section are investigating. No arrests have been made, but officials have interviewed witnesses and collected evidence.
